Benefits of Veganism (first chapter) Nutrition

Vegans tend to be misinterpreted as dining marginal with a passion unnatural for the rights of animals. Although many vegans are passionate about the animals, it is time for others to understand that diet and lifestyle vegan go far beyond the rights of animals.

A vegan diet healthy and balanced offers many benefits to the health and protection against some of the major diseases that plague today's society. Read this blog to know more about the health benefits of a vegan lifestyle, or simply to improve the knowledge of their patients.

Diet

A vegan diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts, legumes and vegetables has all of the following benefits:

  • The meat and dairy have a high content of saturated fats. By reducing the amount of saturated fats in your diet, it will greatly improve your health, especially your cardiovascular health.
  • Carbohydrates. Carbohydrates provide energy to the body. If you don't eat sufficient carbohydrates, your body will burn muscle tissue.
  • Fiber. A diet rich in fiber (as they usually do vegans) leads to a bowel function more healthy. A diet rich in fiber helps fight colon cancer.
  • The magnesium. Magnesium contributes to the absorption of calcium and is a vitamin whose importance in a healthy diet is often overlooked. Nuts, seeds and green leafy vegetables are excellent sources of magnesium.
  • Potassium it balances the water and the acid in the body and stimulates the kidneys to eliminate toxins. It has been shown that a diet rich in potassium reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases and cancer.
  • Folic acid. This B vitamin is an important part of a healthy diet. Folic acid contributes to the repair of the cells, to the formation of red and white blood cells and the metabolism of amino acids.
  • Antioxidants. Antioxidants are one of the best ways to help the body to protect cells from damage. Many scientists also believe that antioxidants can protect the body against certain types of cancer.
  • Vitamin C. Vitamin C strengthens the immune system and also helps to maintain healthy gums and bruises heal more quickly. Vitamin C is also an antioxidant.
  • Vitamin E. This powerful vitamin is good for the heart, the skin, the eyes and the brain, and may even prevent Alzheimer's disease. A diet rich in cereals, nuts and green leafy vegetables are rich in vitamin E.
  • Foods of plant origin contain phytochemicals that help to prevent and treat cancer in the body, stimulate the protective enzymes and interact with the body's antioxidant.
  • Proteins. It is not surprising that the proteins are good for the body. Knowing that the majority of the population consume too much protein in the form of red meat, it may be surprising to hear that this is not a healthy way to get protein.

Beans, nuts, peas, lentils, and soy products are a great way for vegans to get the right amount of protein.
