A vegan diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts, legumes and vegetables has all of the following benefits:
- The meat and dairy have a high content of saturated fats. By reducing the amount of saturated fats in your diet, it will greatly improve your health, especially your cardiovascular health.
- Carbohydrates. Carbohydrates provide energy to the body. If you don't eat sufficient carbohydrates, your body will burn muscle tissue.
- Fiber. A diet rich in fiber (as they usually do vegans) leads to a bowel function more healthy. A diet rich in fiber helps fight colon cancer.
- The magnesium. Magnesium contributes to the absorption of calcium and is a vitamin whose importance in a healthy diet is often overlooked. Nuts, seeds and green leafy vegetables are excellent sources of magnesium.
- Potassium it balances the water and the acid in the body and stimulates the kidneys to eliminate toxins. It has been shown that a diet rich in potassium reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases and cancer.
- Folic acid. This B vitamin is an important part of a healthy diet. Folic acid contributes to the repair of the cells, to the formation of red and white blood cells and the metabolism of amino acids.
